Yes but you must make a petition to the probate court as creditor of the estate.  Usually funeral bills are a high priority expense to be paid by the estate.  However, if the estate does not have enough funds to reimburse you, you will likely have no recourse. Furthermore, if you signed a contract for funeral expenses, you will be personally liable for the full amount.  You may seek reimbursement from the estate but, once again, if the estate is unable to pay, you will be responsible for the difference.  Consequently, it is important to think about the cost of the funeral before you sign a contract with a funeral director.
